How This Works

How an Artist Should Use This Site

Songclash.com was built with all of its users in mind. While it does give unique voting and music discovery opportunities to music fans, the site is ultimately driven behind the participation of aspiring artists and musicians. Lucky for you, we made this site’s functionalities as simple as possible. After all, we had to assume that drummers may be using this on behalf of their band.

At the core of Songclash is the unique ability to compete in musical tournaments. Essentially, these are laid out similarly to that which you see at your local music venues. At the same time, the functionalities are nothing like that at all.

After you signup for an artist account on Songclash (please consider our premium memberships for heightened on site promotion and abilities), you must go ahead and fill in the content of your profile. Please include as much information as you can. This is important for your profile visitors to see. The more songs, photos, and concert information you provide, the more interested your potential new fans are going to be.

Once you’re setup, feel free to peruse the battle section to begin uploading music to upcoming battle competitions. All of the on-page information will prove to be very helpful when going about this. Read everything thoroughly and be sure to participate in those genre battles that fit your style of music. This will ensure that your music will be heard by users that are interested in the genre you perform.

Now that you are in a battle, you should probably consider spreading the word about it to your fans. After all, voting scores are created cumulatively, so having current fans of yours vote for songs you know they love will greatly increase your chances in winning the competition at hand. It is also important for you to expect negative scorings and reviews. Be sure to read fan comments so you know what you are doing right and what your band might need to work on.

After a battle is completed, the aforementioned prizes (usually something from participating sponsors or concert promoters) will be distributed and you will be able to repeat the battle cycle from there. Whether you win or lose, it will be important to retain your interest in the competitions not only since they happen once a month per genre, but because your band has plenty of different songs to upload for the competitions. So if you lose a competition, don’t be upset. Just read the constructive criticisms and try another song next time.

While battles are taking place or even if you’re not participating at any given time, there are still plenty of things for artists to do on the site. At the forefront are the open walls of communication between you and your potential new fans. The site is built from a social perspective so it is strongly encouraged for bands to personalize themselves and talk with as many people as they can. Also, your ability to sell your songs for download and allow it to be put into playlists make your job as a hustling networker that much more rewarding.
