Buried at the heart of the Australian west coast night life flies a rock band that epitomizes everything you ever dreamt Western Australia had to offer. They came back from the tumultuous long roads of the Australian highways with a sound that infected music lovers not only across Australia but scattered across the globe. There is blood in the songs; the sweat that poured over countless festival and pub stages has leached into the sound of this West Coast outfit. The debut single ‘Pictures’ recently exceeding sales of over 5000 copies (sold independently and most of them are signed). Receiving Airplay on numerous radio networks worldwide the band is poised to release their debut album which is receiving final touches in Jan 2009. A working class band of gentlemen from varying backgrounds, which have proved that every now and then a group of individuals can unite and expand the horizons of what those that came before them have carved. There is no doubt those who have already witnessed the ‘Damien Cripps Band’ are testament to the bands belief that what you give is what you will receive in turn and that this is one thing that the government cannot tax you on. Every step we take in life someone is trying to hold us back, with music there is no lies, no limits and certainly no boundaries. The band have explored many genres in their debut album with the swampy southern tribal sound heard in ‘Angels in darkness’ to the coastal roots surf tones that echo across ‘Pictures’. The album travels from country rock to dark bellowing rock anthems that will mark this band not only an Australian Band but part of the foundation of the Australian independent music revolution that threatens the safety and control the major labels have imposed on the music industry for so long. In 2005 the band engaged famed west Oz producer john Vilani to record and produce the album, sadly in 2008 John passed and Greg Clarke (Billy Thorpe, Rose Tattoo …) began to put final mixes together and finish up the immaculate beginnings that Vilani and the DCB had begun. Now with the album merely months away the next movement in this mystical journey only beckons greatness.
